1st International Experts Forum & Policy Dialogue Workshop – December 2nd, 2022

“Personalised medicine approaches to Active and Healthy Living and Ageing – from care to prevention, to happy living” was the topic around which 74 experts from all over the world exchanged views and experiences and debated online to trace the trends and enablers in the R&I landscape in this field, with the objective of providing policymakers with evidence to uptake suggestions.

According to the EU LAC PerMed project, responsible for “Widening EU-LAC policy and research cooperation in Personalised Medicine”, participation in collaborative transnational research projects presents a major opportunity for international cooperation. Potential research topics are – among others – a collaborative approach between pre-clinical and clinical research; the validation of broader biomarker approaches on different genetic populations to enable more informed health decisions, or boosting the participation/representation of different groups in clinical research in multiple dimensions (age, gender, socio-economic status, races, etc.); as well as more diverse, equitable and inclusive biomedical research that could truly guide and support Personalized Medicine.

This workshop was the first step towards the implementation of the Action Plan proposed by the Roadmap of the former EU-funded project IDIH – International Digital Health Cooperation for Preventive, Integrated, Independent and Inclusive Living and the high number of 160 registrations shows that this highly relevant topic already gathers a large community.
